Lions Club of Calcutta Greater adopted the village of Chowhati and has been instrumental in transforming a sleepy nondescript village into a fast developing Maffussil town. The multipurpose centre being run by Lions Club provides medical facilities and imparts cultural and vocational training to the inhabitants of the area. Lions Calcutta Greater Vidya Mandir is devoted to the cause of nation building and strives to groom students into responsible citizens of tomorrow. The Club is also associated with a lot of philanthropic work, Adult Computer Learning Centre in collaboration with Metal Junction, Eye Camp etc.
