One Nation Reading Together

Lions Calcutta (Greater) Vidya Mandir enthusiastically participated in the ‘One Nation Reading Together’ initiative which was observed on 24th November, 2017. All the students from Lower Nursery to Class VIII were involved in different activities to encourage them to read more books. Students of Lower Nursery came dressed as various characters like Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow white, Aladdin and many more. This was a part of the ‘Books Fashion Show’. The ‘ World of Books’ came alive as some students enacted ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

The students of Primary Section and Middle School took the ‘Pledge to Read’ and expressed their views on books and reading through anecdotes and sketches. Students of Class V did the activity of Book Covering and Book Mark making. Class VI silently read their favourite story books during the ‘Book Reading Session in the Assembly Hall. Class VII enacted skits from their story books and Class VIII participated in chorus recitation.

One Nation Reading Together is a great initiative to inculcate reading habit among one and all. The students of LCGVM enjoyed the activities and we look forward to ‘celebrate books’ every year through ONRT.
